The YouTube Music Awards 2013 live stream gets started on Sunday night, with nominees including Nick Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Among the performers scheduled for the event out of the hip hop genre are Eminem, and Tyler, the Creator. The live event gets going via YouTube, free of charge for internet users to watch.
A Hip Hop DX report from Nov. 3 indicates that today’s show is the first edition of the YouTube Music Awards ever. The show will be hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts, with various categories of awards up for grabs. Among the hip hop nominees are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Video of the Year with “Same Love,” Eminem, Epic Rap Battles and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Artist of the Year, and Kendrick Lamar as well as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for the YouTube Breakthrough award.
Other nominees outside of the hip-hop genre will include boy band One Direction, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Also up for Video of the Year is Epic Rap Battles Of History "Barack Obama vs Mitt Romney.”
Performances will be given from Eminem, Lady Gaga and Arcade Fire. Eminem just recently performed two of his new hit songs, “Berzerk,” and “Survival” on last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” on NBC. The rapper has his new album, “The Marshall Mathers LP 2,” scheduled for release this coming Tuesday on iTunes and other digital music sites. So far, several songs have been released including a new track called "Monster," have been released for download from the album.
The YouTube Music Awards live stream will officially begin at 6 p.m. EST, with a celebration currently live streaming and a countdown that includes Seoul, Moscow, Rio and London. Internet users can watch it all at the YouTube channel here.
