This Sunday morning at Mount Bethel Baptist Church service was not your typical Sunday Morning Worship Service. The Youth Ministry had the church jumping and pumping under the leadership of Youth Pastor JC Howard.
Once Dr. CE Glover turned the services over to Pastor Howard it was like we went back in time to an Azusa Street Revival and College Tailgate Party. The service started with the "More Than Conquers" Step Team. The Young Men and Womens performance was so outstanding that the entire congregation was standing to its feet cheering them on. As the youth finished their performance Pastor JC showed off his moves that he could step too and the church went wild.
As if that was not enough the Minister of Music Craig Walden, came in with the Youth Choir performing "I Got the Victory" by Tye Tribett, once again the congregation was on their feet and they went wild. The Youth Choir ended its performance with "Amazing God".
Pastor JC Howard came from the book of Acts chapter 14:9-12, 15, 19-20 Subject was "The Born Identity" he had identified in the story that Paul was being worshiped by the people of Lystra city Lycaonia where he had preached and healed a man who could not walk. "And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men." but when Paul told the people not to worship him, the Jews whom knew Paul when he was Saul they persuaded the people to have him stoned and be left for dead.
But what they did not count on was that his Road Dogg's as Pastor JC referred to the Disciples, they gathered around him and he rose up. In other words the Pastor was saying that Jews wanted to discredit Paul, because they knew him as Saul they knew that he at one point was persecuting Christians in the past but after he met God he became Paul he was no longer the same person. Pastor JC told the congregation "Don't allow others to dictate who u are and surround yourself with people who believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself."
In his closing statement as he continued to rile the congregation Pastor JC used the Chicago Bulls in his analogy; “Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen were excellent players but from time to time they missed a few shots, so they needed a rebound man Dennis Rodman. When Michael Jordan missed the shot Dennis Rodman would rebound the ball and then Michael would make the shot." Pastor JC Howard summed up his sermon by saying "no matter how good you are; you’re gonna miss a few shots but you need a rebound man, Jesus."
As service concluded and the doors of the church were open Mount Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Pastor CE Glover sat in awe as they had witnessed Pastor JC Howard under the anointing.
