YOuth at Work initiatives continue at the Urban League of San DIego. Students in urban areas who prove academic excellence will have opportunities to learn work readiness skills through JUne 30th next year.
Funds approved by the city council guarantee the program will last.
Students will spend work weeks removing trees and weeds and cleaning trash off streets. Work on repairing fences and painting fences will take up time out of school. The plan is to use enterrising work to make the nieghborhoods look good and free of bad marks and blemishes. Graffiti will be taken off walls and fences, and painted over.
Classroom training done on one day is also a part of the work and learning deal.
