“Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’”- Joel 3:10
Are you weak, my brother? Feeling like you can’t take another step, my sister? Then I have good news for you! Did you forget that you were created in the image the Lord, your Strong Tower? (Genesis 1:26, Proverbs 18:10).
The Hebrew word for “weak” as used in this verse is challash (khal-lawsh), which means “frail, to prostrate” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “weak” as “easily led into evil, physically weak.” This tells us that weakness could be either a spiritual condition or a physical condition. And the best remedy for either state is to prostrate yourself before the King of kings and the Lord of lords! Webster defines “prostrate” as “stretched out with face on the ground in adoration or submission.”
Feeling like you are stretched too thin, family? Then stretch yourself out before the One who made you! Maybe it is time for a Divine make-over, a massage from the Mighty Hands of the Mountain-mover Himself! My, my, my, my, my! I am feeling this, family! Let out a holy hearty laugh right now! Don’t hold back! Don’t feel embarrassed! Laugh at the devil! Chuckle at your circumstance! Snort at your situation! In short, let the weak say “I am strong!”
To be strong is to be gibbowr (pr. gib-bore), meaning “powerful, champion, warrior, mighty, valiant.” Yeah, there it is! I sense it and see it rising up in your spirit! Let it rise, brothers and sisters! Let the weak say “I am strong!”
The psalmist King David reminds us Who our Daddy is, as he testifies “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1). In the original Hebrew, “strength,” as used here, is maowz (pr. maw-oze) and is “a fortified place, defense, fortress, rock, most stronghold.” Run to your Most Capable Father—your Fortified Place and your Defense!
Psalm 28:7 shouts from the throne room of the Rock of Ages “The Lord is my strength and my shield.” The Lord is our strength, our Oz (pr. Oze); He is our “Force, Security, Majesty, Praise, Boldness, Might, and Power,” just to name a few.
Feel better? Me too! Now let’s go conquer the world by the One who already overcame the world for us and Who lives within us; and let us overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11)—all for the glory of God!
Father, thank You that You are our Defense and our Strong Tower. You are the Stronghold Who holds our very lives together and securely in the Mighty Palm of your Hand. Strengthen us, oh God. Fortify us, Mighty Fortress. Breathe on us, Breath of Life. In Jesus Name, we thank You that when we are weak, we are strong because You are our strength. Amen and Amen!
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to prostrate yourself before the Father, and declare “I am strong!” Choose to draw on the strength of the One who strengthens you each and every day. Abide daily, in the fortified place of your God; and continue to fight the good fight of laughing off weakness; for God, your Praise Report, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
