Wondering what to do this weekend to fan the flames of your romance? Tired of the old standby of dinner and a movie? Well, all weekend long there are several chances to impress your love(r) by taking them to a live performing arts event.

So, my friends, here are the happenings:

Central City Opera is offering an evening of love through song and music as they feature selections from La Boheme, Carmen, Kiss Me Kate and Camelot. Held at the Dairy Center for the Arts, this delectable and dynamic evening highlights a romantic trio and dynamic pianist. After the performance of your choice, you’ll enjoy dessert, a glass of wine, and live music in the Lobby Gallery, all Free with a performance ticket.

Dance Upclose is an open salon for dance. Presenting 4 different artists each month the salon aims to open the lines of communication between the creators and the witnesses. It will give opportunities for discussions on inspiration and choreographic development. Discover what goes on behind the scenes, talk, ask questions, share ideas. The brainchild of choreographer Jayne Persch, the inaugural Open Salon presents: Katie Elliot- 3rd Law, Kristen Demaree, MFA Candidate UC Boulder, Kat Gurley, Wild Heart and David Reuille, Apex Dance.

This last one might be a long shot to get into, because fortunately for them the show is already sold out, but I’ll promote it regardless.
Truth Be Told story slams at Shine in downtown Boulder. This is the All-star grand slam championship! Each audience member will receive a ballot upon entry, and is invited to cast a vote in each of four categories of storytelling: most humorous, most poignant, outstanding storytelling skills, and best overall story.
I hear there might be standing room only! So give it a shot, you may just get in!
