Love it or hate it, NASCAR’s Chase for the Championship is the way the sport determines its top driver. It’s also an entirely different subject for another week.
This week only days after Kasey Kahne scored the first road course victory of his career at what turned out to be a pretty good race at Infineon Raceway, the question is; should a road course be in the final 10 races of the Chase? On the one side, people argue that in order for a driver to show that they are well rounded they need to be able to show they can turn left and right. On the other side people say that NASCAR is a traditionally oval track sport and should remain that way.
So what do you think? Should a road course be included in NASCAR’s Chase for Championship? And why or why not?

Yes, absolutely! The Chase should reflect the skill level of the Drivers on ALL types of tracks, INCLUDING a road course. Since there are only two on the circuit, it should alternate back & forth between Infineon and Watkins Glen from year to year. Personally I'd like to see more road course racing in NASCAR. Sunday's race was easily the most exciting this year.
Absolutely a road course should be in the Chase. The race Sunday was awesome, and it really showed which drivers were focused and which ones were not.
Better a road course than another 1 1/2 mile flat track. At least on a road course there's still some beating and banging.
Absolultely. But rather than alternate between the two existing tracks, I think they should another facility like Birmingham or Road Atlanta. The chances for decent weather are better in the South at that time of the year.
Yes yes yes yes a road course should be in the Chase.. This is the best of the best and that means fewer 1.5 mile cookie-cutter tracks and more real tracks such as Bristol, Martinsville, and road courses.. Overall I'd like to see 4 to 6 road races every year and cut the 1.5 milers down
Absolutely, I'll join the choir. I do believe it should be with the idea that we add at least one more road course to the schedule, maybe Road America or just a 2nd event at Sonoma( easier to add because of weather ).In the last 2 or 3 years, I'll take the package of the road courses in relation to almost any other style of racing.
Yes, there is a real good tracks Like Elkhart Lake. Problem out in the sticks. But at least you can race on this course.
Yes! Road America, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta - excellent tracks where no amount of suspension / tire-pressure adjustments will get the get to handle the way the driver wants all the way around. On many ovals, teams with the best funding & equipment can get the car "dialed in" well enough that any "Cup" driver could run very well - road course racing is far more about driver skill than adjustments to make the car easier to drive.
Absolutely NOT! The two road races we have on the schedule already are two too many. Let the pointy cars run on the road courses. NASCAR cars belong on ovals.
Moonshiners and revenoors did not drive around in circles. They went up and down hills and turned left and right.
Bob's right. No Road Races. There's no racing to them..All gas mileage and pit trickery.
Road Course races SUCK!!!
NASCAR drivers don't have enough time on Road Courses during the year to have the Yearly Championship decided during the Chase because of a EASY WRECK that can happen!!!
