In the September 2010 Healthy Planet Magazine, Cathy Burkemper (The Herb Lady), CNHP and Certified Herbalist of Ellisville Missouri, wrote : "Many of the lotions that we use to moisturize our bodies are actually causing more harm than good."

Cathy also said that many ingredients in many of the lotions that we use are not poison, but they are chemicals which cause a build-up of toxins and other side effects. Here are the three most common ingredients found in the lotions that we use and they are as follows:

Mineral Oil and Petroleum

Lotions that contain petroleum, coat the skin, allowing no moisture in or your own oils come to the surface of your skin and it also causes early signs of aging.

Parabens

Parabens are commonly used in most skin care products and they can disrupt hormone balance and mimic estrogen.

Propylene Glycol

This ingredient is mainly used as a moisturizer and studies have shown that propylene glycol causes dermatitis, skin irritation and may cause liver abnormalities.

In the Book, Natural Cures they don't want us to know about, Kevin Trudeau wrote: "The skin is the largest organ in the body. Anything put on the skin is absorbed and gets into the body." Trudeau also said that, we put things on our skin such as lotions, moisturizers, sun screens, cosmetics, soap and everyone of these contains ingredients that even the FDA says are so poisonoura that they cannot be taken internally.

The next time you get ready to apply lotion or products on your skin, take a look at the ingredients that are included in the product and be sure to choose products that does not contain ingredients that are harmful to your body.
