Let’s face it; we all have days when everything seems to go out of whack, no matter what we do. And, at the end of the day, we consider ourselves lucky to have made it through the day at all, much less unscathed physically and with our mental acuity intact. However, we tend to forget that, more often than not, our inner spiritual health can be impacted as well. Negative energy that gets directed towards us can not only affect us mentally, emotionally and physically, but spiritually as well. We speak highly of those who have been through horrendous situations, yet have come out of them with their minds and bodies intact and with no loss of “spirit”. These are the souls who have learned to value the whole of their existence, including the state of their faith or higher self that we call spirit.
One thing that we all have in common is a higher self, or spirit, whether we realize it or not. Even the medical community has finally begun to realize that treating patients involves not only the physical, mental and emotional, but also the spiritual. Keeping an inner balance, more than anything else, is much more important than we ever realized. There are those who have always known this, but most of us have forgotten it; instead focusing on only the body and the mind without taking into account our inner, spiritual needs. In the middle of a hectic day, maintaining our focus and our center can be difficult if not impossible, unless we remember to “check in” with our inner feelings. Our inner compass tells us whether something “feels” right or not. Our inner compass needs to be treated along with our physical and mental selves. Keeping a daily schedule of prayer or silent meditation can go a long way to helping us heal when we find ourselves impacted by a sudden life altering situation.
Have a good week ahead, everyone, and remember to “check in”, every so often, with your valuable inner self.
