Your hair needs style while traveling: Aloxxi

Let's face it: not all travel is about minimalism, doing without and looking like something the cat dragged in. Many people -- through credit cards, loyalty programs, expense accounts, even out of pocket -- are choosing to check luggage. Others are traveling by vehicle for destination weddings, music gigs, personal appearances, meeting online friends IRL. For all of these events, you can and want to look your best.

It all starts with a good hair day, doesn't it seem? And yet, though of us with color-treated hair always hesitated to use the products that were out there . . . full of drying and damaging ingredients, ready to strip our tint at a moment's notice. Now that's all changed, thanks to Aloxxi. I was glad to be hosted to experience it!

Their shampoos are free from sulfites, imperative for keeping color intact. The Volumizing formula is a clear shampoo, very effective (though not a sinkful of suds). It has a fresh apple scent from apple stem cells. It and the matching conditioner do a good job of volumizing without giving your hair that blasted-out, dry look.

Aloxxi styling products are PETA-friendly, Kosher, paraben-free and gluten-free. Their Styling Cream -- which is sized for 3-1-1 carry-on travel bags -- is a lightweight lotion texture that controls frizz and helps you direct wayward hair in a softer, natural-looking way.

I use two of their serums in tandem: Thickening serum on my roots and Restorative serum on my dry ends. That way, I keep the volume I want while still getting the hair nourishment I need.

For those really pro looks, I suggest Texturizing spray followed by Firm Hold spray. You want to get the shape you're picturing -- wrangling that hair the way you envision! -- and then lock in the look. Both have a weightless, non-crunchy effect.

The hottest thing in easy care is dry shampoo, which Aloxxi has! Perfect for those mornings-after, when you actually care about how you look, but don't feel like doing much about it . . . or those days when the hot water runs out!
