This is the time of the year when everyone is talking about their goals and many times we forget that while we make plans about things we want to achieve…God may have a different idea for us.

There are periods of our life when you may become anxious and desperate because you have not been able to achieve something or matters did not go according to your design. These are the moments when we make wrong decisions and even believe lies because it is hard for us to wait and see what God is doing in our lives.

God has a wonderful plan for each of us and his design will always be much better than what we can ever imagine. God knows everything, imagine that he even knows how much hair is on your head and not a leaf moves without his knowledge. Sometimes we want things to happen in a certain way but God has a different arrangement. What we do know for sure is that he certainly has a plan and his plan is good!

We know this for sure because it says it in Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Nobody can take away from you what God has planned for your life. Often one of the hardest things to do is to wait on God. When God made this promise to the people of Israel they were being held captive in Babylon and they wanted God to free them and they wanted it done fast! They wanted to hear that they would be free immediately, but God told them they would have to wait 70 years! Sometimes we want God to do something fast, but he knows when we are ready for the blessing.

What you are asking God for? Or what have asked him to do that you feel that you have not gotten an answer? Is there's something you asked God to change in your life yet nothing has happened? God says in the Psalms that he grants the desires of your heart and he is not a man to lie neither the son of man to repent.

I'm going to give you 6 tips for waiting patiently on God ... not passively... with peace! The peace that surpasses all understanding!

1. Establish yourself where you are ... TAKE CARE OF WHAT YOU HAVE

Note that when God made this promise to the Israelites what they wanted was to get out of Babylon. While they were physically in Babylon their mind was back home. They were not sowing nor marrying, and most likely they were living in tents (temporary solutions) because they were so focused on leaving Babylon to continue their lives as it was before the captivity and they were not living in the present. God had another plan for them. God said “Marry, build, sow!” he basically told them to get comfortable here, because they would be here for a while.

Put your anxieties and worries aside and accept your current situation. If you're praying for a house, car or something material… take cares of what you have now as if it were the new one. If you are asking him for a job then work at your current employer with excellence not as if you were leaving tomorrow. Accept the current situation you are now living in with a positive attitude because he has already made you a promise.

2. Make Plans
The word plan means a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something. This means you should make a list of the steps you need to take along with the resources and time you will need to achieve your goal. What do you want? You have to make a plan although this does not mean that everything will go according to it. You must never the less write an action plan and have a strategy to get what you want. Pray to God and ask for instruction and divine guidance.

  • Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be successful. (Proverbs 16:3)
  • The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5)
  • The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. (Proverbs 16:1)
  • For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? (Luke 14:28)

The word diligent means a constant effort to achieve something. If there is something you want, you must do something that brings you closer to achieve it every day! God will open doors in the process. When you feel that you cannot do something then read about what you want, look for examples of others who have achieved what you want, while doing this you will be acquiring wisdom and will find the information, people and places that will help you in your path.

  • Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7)

In your search for wisdom, look for a mentor. People that will consider speaking about their experiences and add value to your life. Be careful with this because not everyone can be a mentor. Pray and ask God
to send the right people.

  • Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 15:22)

According to psychologist writing your vision and goals on paper makes them more powerful. When you write it creates a constant reminder that you can put your bathroom, on the fridge, in the office, in your wallet ... so when you feel unmotivated you can pull out this reminder that will fill you with inspiration, energy and get you focused again.

  • Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that reads it. (Habakkuk 2:2)

You do nothing if you do everything without doing the most important part. God promises you in Jeremiah 29:11 that he has plans for you and then in Jeremiah 29:13 he says:

"You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile."

For many seeking God is going to church on Sunday or praying for others to see. You can talk to God at all times just like when you call a friend to talk. He is your friend, your heavenly Father, and counselor whom is always available for you . You can talk to him when you bathe, when you drive have access to him at all times and if you speak to him he will listen and answer. This is how you start a relationship with him.

In conclusion, this 2014 ... accept your current situation / learn the lesson so you can move on, write your vision, find mentors, be diligent, make a plan, but make sure that when you search for HIM ... IT IS WITH ALL YOUR HEART!
