Your gateway to 'Metamorphosis'

Looking for something to do tomorrow Friday, May 9, 2014? Trek out to western Mass. Janus Arts is hosting Metamorphosis at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke, MA starting at 8 PM. You are encouraged to wear formal attire, a costume or creative dress to this celebration of art. There will be music, dance performances, live painting, body art, and more! What art show would be complete without wine? Food and beer will also be available.

The Facebook event page advises: “Pre-registration highly encouraged as we are likely to hit capacity. Make a payment of $15 per entry through Paypal to: Paytogetaticket@gmail.com. and your name will be added to our guest list. ( Please be sure to write your name in the notes section)”

The featured music includes Honey Circuit, Eyes, and Gabriel Messuti. All three focus on the art of their music. In fact, Honey Circuit is usually accompanied by visual artists and belly dancers. Their sound is described as “tribal Portishead.” It's world music with electronic beats and a folk feel, paired with delicate vocals. You can check out their music video for “Siren” here.

Eyes was recently featured by “The Buzz.” Band member Will Theis describes their sound in a very eloquent way. “The music has been described as 'Romantic' and also as carrying 'A Hidden Darkness', and seeks to tell the story of true life, which is never completely happy nor completely sad yet finds its beauty in the transitions and in-betweens of human existence.”

Gabriel Messuti is a Renaissance man when it comes to the entertainment business. He does it all. He's a musician, photographer, composer, graphic designer, and has video skills, too. His musical ability is eclectic as well. He plays the violin, piano, drums and guitar. His comprehensive styles include hip hop, acoustic, electronic and even full-scale orchestra music. Check out his music on iTunes.

The event is called Metamorphosis, because the art showcased is meant to create significant thought, perhaps even an epiphany. Don't miss it!
