Your baby and you: Diaper Bag Essentials

See also

Packing a diaper bag can feel like your packing for a week away when you have a newborn. Diapers, wipes, extra clothes, blankets, bottles, spit up rags, toys, etc.. The older your child gets the less you will pack and the smaller of a bag you can use. Sure you might think you need to bring their whole room with you but in reality you wont even use half of the things you bring.

Diapers and Wipes

This is the obvious thing you need to bring in your bag. Have at least 5 diapers in your bag at all times. Bring a pack of wipes and make sure to restock this once it starts getting low. You'll use wipes for more than just wiping those cute little baby butts. They come in handy for sticky fingers, sticky faces, boogers, and more. Even when your child gets older it's still a good idea to keep a pack handy. The older they get the stickier they get!

Extra Clothes

It's a good idea to keep an extra set of clothes in your diaper bag. Pair of pants, a onesie and some socks can come in very handy. Imagine your out grocery shopping and you haven't even made it to the frozen foods section and your baby has an explosive poop. Luckily for you, you've packed a new outfit! Just make sure to put a new outfit in the bag once you get home to replace the one that was in there.

Bottles and Formula/ Breastfeeding Cover

Depending on weather your breastfeeding or bottle feeding you will need one of these. If your breastfeeding make sure you always bring your breastfeeding cover or a blanket so that you can feed your baby whenever they get hungry. If your bottle feeding just make sure to bring a bottle and some formula so you can just fill it up with water and keep going!

Toys

Bring some sort of toy to entertain your child. It depends on the babies age for what type of toy you bring. For newborns and babies up to 6 months I recommend bringing a soft toy or a rattle toy. Once they start getting older and playing more with their toys then you can start bringing something more entertaining for them.

So that's it! Of course you can bring whatever you feel you need but those 4 things are essential in any diaper bag. What is essential in your diaper bag?
