Youngstown pro Jake “The Bull” Giuriceo (16-2-1, 3 KO’s) returns to the ring after an 18 month absence against Travis Hartman (12-19-1, 9 KO’s) this Friday in Pittsburgh.
The fight is a part of the “Rivers-Rumble 4” event from the Rivers Casino.
Giuriceo has not fought since 2012 after suffering an eye injury in his last bout against Peter Oluoch. “The Bull” has lost back to back close fights.
Hartman, losing his last three fights, has faced some of the top young fighters in the sport, including junior welterweight star Jessie Vargas, welterweight title contender Keith Thurman and lightweight champion Terence Crawford.
Joining Giuriceo in Pittsburgh is undefeated Cleveland bantamweight prospect Antonio Nieves (6-0, 4 KO’s). Friday night Nieves will take on Angel Caravajl (2-3).
Nieves is coming off a first round knockout win in May against Adalberto Tapia.
“Rivers-Rumble 4” is co-promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Presents and a good performance by Giuriceo or Nieves may lead to bigger fights in the future.
Tickers are still available for the five card event. Fans in Northeast Ohio and Youngstown are just a short drive away. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at https://www.showclix.com/event/3853611

Akron native Shawn "Showtime" Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO's) will defend his IBF welterweight title on August 16th against England's Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO's) from Carson, California. The fight will air on Showtime.
Brook will be a solid test for the young Porter who is coming off an impressive TKO win last April. Brook may be the strongest fighter Porter has faced since moving down in weight to 147 pounds. The speed Porter typically shows in the ring will be needed to keep his title.
