Youngsters seek championship status at ZAT tournament

Top seeds have been named for the Houston Tennis Association Zone Advancement Tournament, which will be held Dec. 7-8 at seven Houston tennis sites. Lee LeClear Tennis Center, 9506 S. Gessner, is headquarters.

Draws are limited to 32 players, resulting in multiple seeds in some age divisions. The youngsters earn points to qualify for championship status.

Top seeds in the boys age divisions are: 18s–Paul Goode, Bastrop; 16s—Bradley Pittman, College Station, and Neil Pant and Shotaro Abe, Houston; 14s–Amitesh Yeleswarapu, Katy, Brandon Duhan, Kingwood, and Grant Eason, Spring; and 12s–Harrison Herzog, Houston, Nicholas St. Onge, Spring, and Luke Moellering, Bellaire.

Top seeds in the girls age divisions are: 18s–Casey Sutton, Katy; 16s—Brynn Wreford, Katy, and Kendall Crawford, Montgomery; 14s–Danielle Pischulla, The Woodlands, and Charlize Price, San Antonio; and 12s—Ashley Barton, The Woodlands, and Julia Thomas, Magnolia.

Entrants total 565.
