Young Writers and Artists Conference set for March 6 and 7

Bethany Lutheran College is once again hosting the Young Writers & Artists Conference.

This wonderful event is for all area students in grades 3-9, with one day just for younger kids and one for all kids.  Students in grades 3-6 are invited to attend on March 6 and any students in grades 3-9 on March 7.

Peter Bloedel, a theater professor from Bethany Lutheran College, will be the keynote presenter for grades 3-6. Jonathan Friesen will keynote on March 7 for grades 7-9.

Organizers describe the YWAC as:

The Young Writers & Artists Conference (YWAC) offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects related to writing and creative arts. YWAC utilizes a number of authors, artists, educators, experienced writers, and business leaders as conference facilitators. These local and regional talents inspire youth and encourage them to take their own talents to new levels. Session topics may include, but not be limited to: poetry, fiction writing, character and plot development, illustration/cartooning, theater art, music, graphic design, journalism, science fiction, humor, screen plays, calligraphy, etc.

A BOOK FAIR courtesy of The Book Shelf features books from some of the conference’s presenters as well as other popular titles. This is an incredible opportunity for students to get their books signed by authors they meet either during lunch or in their sessions.
