Young puppy is rescued on a Colombia beach (Photos)

This is a success story about the rescue and saving of a young puppy, and is as heartwarming as it is victorious. Originally posted by an animal lover on Reddit.com, it bears repeating because, often, people really care.

The young dog was discovered alone, dehydrated and starving on a beach in Colombia. She was in pitiful condition, showing all the bones in her body. The dog was covered with sand and appeared to be desperate for help and saving from almost certain death.

The tourists that found the little pup were on a visit to Colombia and made a pact to do what they could to save her. They knew they faced an uphill battle.

They named the sweet little pup Mrs. Bojangles.

The dog was taken to a local vet who thoroughly checked her over for parasites, certain illnesses and vital signs. Mrs. Bojangles had all serious illnesses ruled out, had appropriate vaccinations administered and was put on a proper diet. She exhibited such a zest for life that everyone around her was affected. It was obvious that Mrs. Bojangles was making a close connection to her human friends.

Her appearance began to change. Mrs. Bojangles was improving, gaining weight and loving life.

The tourists charted her progress in pictures and compiled an album of the young dog. As her condition got better, her coat began to shine, her eyes brightened and her behaviors became socialized and more outgoing. It was obvious that she felt more secure.

When the time came for them to return home, they found Mrs. Bojangles a new mom with whom she is living happily ever after.

She certainly is a well-deserving little dog, especially since she had such a rough start in life.
