Variety learned yesterday that quite the impressive ensemble is being put together for the upcoming film “Young Ones.”
Directed by Jake Paltrow (“The Good Night”), the futuristic thriller centers on a 14-year-old boy forced to use his wits to survive, and the story is set in a violent near-future where water has become the most precious, and fastest-dwindling, resource on the planet.
Elle Fanning (“Super 8”), Kodi Smit-McPhee (“Let Me In”), Michael Shannon (“Man of Steel”), and Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: First Class”) are all set to star with Smit-McPhee taking on the lead.
Production has already begun in South Africa’s Northern Cape desert.
This seems like a pretty solid mix of “The Book of Eli,” “The Road,” and “Hannah” and I think with this impressive cast and decent director we should be in for a kick-ass time.
