Christian hip-hop-rapper YKD (Young King David) is back on the scene introducing his latest release of a ‘hip-hop love song’. The rapper has just released a new music video to compliment the song “You Gotta Be The One” featured off his latest album College Graduate: A Testimonial. With this new cut, the artist takes a different approach and raps over a mellow beat with soulful ad libs from singer Desmond Demps.
“Of all the songs on my album, I really wanted to highlight “You Gotta Be The One”. I wanted to give the industry a different perspective that is needed on how a man should treat a woman. Our culture degrades women and I wanted to show men that chivalry isn’t dead,” said YKD.
David’s new release captures viewers with the beautiful backdrops of Jamaica. The video actually describes some of YKD's personal love story with his wife, whom he dated long distance for 7 years. “You Gotta Be The One” adds a touch of humor while revealing some common dating pitfalls any guy would want to avoid.
If you think that this is all you’ll be hearing from YKD – it’s not. The Christian artist is back in the studio working on new music. This Spring 2013 David is expected to release a new project entitled “I AM YKD”, which is expected to reach a more broader audience.
"My last project was about my testimony; but now, this new project is fire. I am expressing myself more freely touching on controversial issues like money, envy in the Body of Christ and the power of giving. There is just a lot God has placed on my heart... so stay tuned”, shared YKD.
Young King David tours frequently. He has shared the same stage in ministry with various artists like Canton Jones, and recording artists from Reach Records: Andy Mineo and KB, among many others, and has been featured on several television programs.
