The football seasons has finally ended. The Super Bowl had a thrilling end. Jazz music doesn't end, it continues to thrill those of us who love it. There will be another fine concert in the Barbara Brighton Young Artists Jazz series on Tuesday, February 5, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood. The show starts at 8pm for "one night' only and the admission is $5. You really can't beat that. The group performing will be the Santa Monica High School Jazz Combo.
The band features student musicians who perform standard jazz, blues, latin and funk music. The members of the band include: Eli Brown on trumpet, Kyle McCreight on trombone, Ben Rosenberg on piano, Jacob Levine on bass and Zack Gotler on drums. Rosenberg and Brown are seniors, McCreight and Levine are juniors and Gotler is a sophomore. The band won first place in March 2011 at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival in Boston, which is the largest High School Jazz festival in the world. I hope that you go out and support these young people and their musical endeavors. Stay in touch with the jazz events in southern California by logging on to http://www.lajazz.com
