“The Young and the Restless” star Michael Muhney is fired from the show and this news is coming from the star himself. According to the Wrap on Dec., 17 Muhney wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday that he has been “let go” from the “Young and the Restless.”
He added that his last date on the air will be Jan. 30. Muhney wrote:
“I’m so sorry. It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on set is this Thursday.”
He also said that he is taking some “private time” with his wife and kids because he is “most concerned for their well-being.” There is no word from the folks at “The Young and the Restless” about Muhney’s surprise departure from the show.
Muhney didn’t offer a reason for the show letting him go. The Wrap suggests that it could be hard to redeem his character, Newman, on the show as his character recently killed a girl in a hit and run on the show. It is not known if another actor will replace him or if the character will be written out of the show.
