Young Americans advance on Thursday at Dow Corning Classic

Thursday brought more big crowds, world class tennis and a bit of dicey weather to Midland, Mich. and the 2013 Dow Corning Classic.

It's professional women's tennis, indoors in Midland and a great field completed second round play on Thursday.

Top-seeded American, Lauren Davis breezed into the quarterfinals with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over fellow American Alexa Glatch. Should Davis win this event, it would be the biggest tournament win in her young career.

Another American, Maria Sanchez, a former USC star also posted a 6-2, 6-2 win in Thursday's action. She defeated Victoria Duval, a 17-year old American player.

Jessica Pegula also won her second round match and will play in the quarters on Friday.
Former Stanford All-American Mallory Burdette outlasted American junior Samantha Crawford 6-2, 7-6 in a Thursday afternoon match.

Two-time champion Jill Craybas will be in action on the Stadium Court on Thursday night facing Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in a battle of WTA veterans.

The Dow Corning Tennis Classic in Midland, Mich. is a 100K USTA Pro Circuit event, now in it's 25th year.
