The last few rounds of You Make the Card 4 have been devoted to choosing a name for our discard-happy black enchantment with that gorgeously creepy art, tentatively know as Waste Not. The first time the top eight names, whittled from thousands of submissions by R&D's efforts, were voted on, there was an error with the brackets when the votes were counted and, essentially, some of the wrong names won because they weren't paired with what they should have been. When this was found out, there was an apology, and the brackets were reordered... except then, they were still somehow wrong. There were two programming errors at fault here, but a lot of angry fans accused R&D of trying to rig the vote (which is a fairly ludicrous idea, since it would be pointless to do so - R&D chose the names that would be voted on in the first place, meaning they were already free to do all the "rigging" they wanted).
So now, the whole idea of brackets is being thrown out the window. As Trick Jarrett explains in the "true" You Make the Card 4 Top Eight Names vote, the top four overall vote-getters will make it to the next round.
So, last week we had a revote on the Top 4 names for your new card due to an issue with the poll reporting. Except, the revote was also botched as well. For this, I can only apologize, as the blame falls squarely on me and what appears to be a bug in our software.
In light of this problem, which our web team is investigating, we are simplifying the process and trying to be as fair as possible.
The only right thing to do at this point is to run one unified poll with all eight options. While less exciting than a bracket, it gives all of the submitted names the respect they deserve with a poll unmarred by the previous chaos.
It wasn't specified how long this will last, but two days is the norm - so get your votes in while you can.
