"You'll Spoil My Dinner"

It's been said many times in response to the question, "Do you know where your meat comes from?" The response is usually, "I don't want to know..you will spoil my dinner."  Indeed one's dinner may be spoiled, if one knew exactly what he or she was eating.  Nearly all of the meat we eat comes from animals raised on factory farms. These farms are not lush green fields where animals graze and are, capably, attended to. Factory farms are brutal, tortuous places for animals.  Their life is harrowing.  Heinous torture is perpetrated upon them each day.  They are injected with many chemicals to stimulate growth and to attempt to suspend the spread of illness.  It has been thoroughly investigated and documented that these chemicals are a health risk to consumers of meat products.  The animals living quarters are concrete and steel. They are packed against each other so tightly that movement is, basically, impossible.  These creatures are in a constant state of fear and panic.  Many are already quite ill and their health declines rapidly.  For pigs and veal the the torture is even greater - life in a gestation or veal crate is barbaric and horrifying.  Chickens exist in battery cages.  Often, due to overcrowding, chickens will peck one another incessantly or they acquire disease from improrper "de-beaking".  Dead chickens can be routinely found amongst the live inhabitants of battery cages.  "Downed" animals are the most pitiful. Too ill and weak to stand the animals are prodded, beaten, kicked and dragged in an attempt to transport them or lead them to slaughter.  When these brutal attempts do not work many "downed" animals are left to die an often slow death without shelter, water or care.  Their suffering is completely ignored by the farm workers.  Employees of many factory farms engage in senseless beatings, teasing, and many other torturous, disgusting acts.  The animals are utterly defenseless.  These trusting, innocent creatures are at the complete mercy of individuals who have no mercy or compassion.

Please make an attempt to eliminate meat from your diet. Start slowly and progression will come.  Please try to take a moment to support issues that will protect the animals on factory farms.

If not for the animals, do it for oneself.  Eating the meat produced on factory farms is not healthy.  One is putting their body at risk for disease or premature death.

The following link provides a very graphic video of life on a factory farm.  It may be difficult to view but, if viewed, may help you make a change for the better in your life.

Make a change in your life.  Protect the animals and become healthier.  Peace to all who share this Earth.
