'You Lie!' Tea Party descends on Washington, shouts a bit, then goes home

The Republican Extremists like to keep things simple, stupid. Simple hatreds: socialism, illegal immigrants, big government. Simple fears: socialism, illegal immigrants, big government.

So why do they hate the concept of universal healthcare so much?

Simple: socialism, illegal immigrants, and big government. Stupid.

So why do they hate Barack Obama so much?

Simple: socialism, illegal immigrants, and big government.

Hey, stupid, we get the picture.

Ok, ok.

So when the Tea Party Express (made possible by a generous grant from Fox News and FreedomWorks) descended on Washington on Saturday, there mission was clear: chant slogans, hold signs with slogans, and hate everything they've been told by the right-wing media that President Obama plans to do with our country.

Even if some of those plans were designed to help these very people.

I suppose with Iraq not making the front-page news anymore these ill-informed “patriots” needed another bogus “preemptive” war. And what better target than the imaginary dismantling of America by a foreign-born, Muslim, radical commie “president,” with these lies being perpetuated by the nonsensical accusations of bile-filled conservative pundits and, yes, Republican leaders.

The Republican Extremist agenda is not complicated. In fact, it is very, very, very simple. Destroy any chance for President Obama to change anything in this country, especially if said changes would intensely benefit the American people. Because, as Rush Limbaugh has made abundantly clear, the right-wingers among us want nothing to emerge from the Obama Administration except failure.

Even if their “failure at all costs” agenda destroys American families in the process.

So there they were, numbers in the tens of thousands, marching on Washington. Walking past the history. Gazing at the monuments to great leaders, soldiers, patriots. Blocks and blocks of wonder at the majesty of America. Carrying their signs depicting the current president as Adolf Hilter, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro. Signs that read, “Bury Obama Care with Kennedy.” These were not hand-made signs either. This wonderful and poignant sentiment was printed and distributed by the event organizers.

You stay classy, Teabaggers!

The 9/12 march on Washington was a joke. Lead by a joke (Glenn Beck). Organized by jokers (Fox News, FreedomWorks).

All in an attempt to stop the Obama Administration from giving some poor people some health care coverage.

For shame.

Thankfully it accomplished nothing. Obama wasn't even in town. And Congress was home enjoying their weekend. Nice planning. Next time you should plan your march for Easter.

The march was a HUGE success and only those who are living with their heads so far up their butts will not understand this. They ( Fighers for freedom) left the place clean and respectful unlike when the liberals annugurated Obama and left the place looking like trash. That's the differance between the two, one knows what it means to be American and the other wants to be taken care of by the government. Grow up, wake up, ot shut up you libeeral.

What absolutely boggles my mind about the liberal (yes I'll just say it: socialist) media, is that it (they) don't seem to realize that they will be the first to be strung up and left out to dry by the dictators if we let them take control, Guys... the 1st amendment will be the first to go can't you see!!!!! It kills me!

"That was my mall money?" What the heck does that even mean?? These people have no clue what they're mad about.

Well said Jack. No offense, but the guy who wrote this article is an ignorant jack@$$.

  • DanTheMan 4 years ago

Liberals (socialists) can't understand why so many Americans are angry about Obama's agenda, but they have good reasons to be angry. First of all, Obama has lied repeatedly. Let’s look at some of his lies:

    1. He told us that our economy would grow by $1.52 for every $1 the govt spends. If you believe his logic, all we have to do is spend our way to prosperity.

    2. He promised no tax increases of any kind on families that make less than $250k, but two weeks after his inauguration he raised cigarette taxes by 62 cents a pack on the nation’s 43 million smokers.

    3. He said the unemployment rate would not exceed 8% if we pass his stimulus plan, but the unempoyment rate is now at 9.7% and is likely to increase.

Obama’s many lies have angered people.

  • DanTheMan 4 years ago

Americans are also angry about the runaway spending. Do the math on the stimulus plan. The cost is $787 billion and there are 114 million taxpayers. The cost to each and every taxpayer is $6903 (excluding interest). Obama said the plan would create/save about 2 million jobs. $787 billion divided by 2 million jobs = $393,500 per job created/saved. Think about this for a moment. We’re going to spend nearly $400,000 for every job created/saved and leave each and every taxpayer with a bill of nearly $7000!!! I believe this is an enormous waste of taxpayer money. Obama wants us to believe that those evil wealthy people will be responsible for paying for the stimulus, but it’s not going to happen. As usual, the people who will be stuck with the bill are the middle class who have already been squeezed to the limit. The stimulus plan alone is likely to push the US into a long-term period of high inflation. The out-of-control spending by Obama and the Dems has angered people.

    Mr. Gibbs,

You just made me decide to bring back the word "dork" back from the dead. Congratulations.

Good article! The loony-tune right-wingers would rather goose-step with Rush and the rest of the stupid, delirious partisans than actually read, explore, engage, research or find a fact. They actually enjoy their ignorance and revel in their avoidance of reality. Fortunately, they've gone so far over the edge that their rants aren't even in the realm of possibility. Only their hate remains the same.... So pathetic and so sad that the rest of us have to endure listening to this petulance time and time again...

  • Jake 4 years ago

Give them a break, I'm sure these are the exact same people who were protesting in MUCH larger numbers when we were given absolutely NO option to go to War with Iraq. At least this time they have an option. (That's why it's called an 'option' -- you take it or you don't but at least it's been offered to you).

S**t, now I need to add one more simple thing to my list of things to hate. Let's see, socialism, illegal immigrants, big government, Scott Gibbs. Geez I think I'll move this moron Gibbs to number 2. At least the meskins can shingle my house and mow by yard. I think the only thing physical Scott can do is pull train.

Now get back to your mom's basement and shut the f**k up, azzhole!

    DOMESTIC TERROR ALERT
The Federal Government has released a report warning of rising domestic terror activity. Thats right, we are in more danger from WITHIN than anything else. Events such as this weekend should be viewed as possible terrorist recruitment/indoctrination targets. If you know anyone who has attended these events and/or has talked of violence against an officially elected Government, they should be reported to law enforcement for possible placement on a federal domestic terror watch list. Vigilance is required against those who would steal the Liberties of loyal patriotic Americans. Do you want YOUR child, spouse, or grandparent become a victim of domestic terror?

    Report suspicious activity IMMEDIATELY

Think about this: the right wingers are MORE angry about Obama trying to get health care for people than the left wingers were about Bush starting 2 pointless wars.

Where were all these good "patriots" when those self-serving liars Bush and Cheney were snow-shoveling the surplus into that hole in the desert called Iraq? That's what your grand-children are really going to be paying for, not health care.

These people are scum, there's just no way to beat around the bush. They are an embarrassment to this nation.

    We shall overcome

  • jo 4 years ago

Wow Gibbs, can you be anymore snotty and condescending? You accuse people who don't see the world as you do to be full of hate and to be part of some extremists and then you write this garbage! You know, hypocrisy isn't a good quality of someone’s character!

You ignore us at your own political peril. Liberals are turning on you and joining our cause. Blacks are waking up. Anecdote, a guy from Ted Kennedy committee decried a woman who said abortion is supported and said it was not true. He checked it out and came back and apologized THAT SHE WAS RIGHT!!!

Personal attacks on both sides here. Slinging sarcasm, name-calling and just plain HATE of each other - where does that get us? One half of the country is not going to suddenly just leave.

We're all people. Both sides are composed of people you would probably like if you got to know in your daily life.

None of them are secretly hating America, or wishing for a Hitler-regime, and very few of them are -literally- "crazy", "stupid" or "evil".

They're just people, like you, with families and jobs. Some of them you have strong fundamental disagreements with, things you feel are so important that you begin to actually feel *hatred* to those who express those differing opinions.

Then, you start hating a whole group of people, because anyone associated with that group must share those opinions, and therefore deserve the same vilification.

However, when you stop seeing the people in that group as human beings like yourself, that's when debate is abandoned and blind hate t

    Hey Gibbs,
Liberal much? Gezzz, how do you get a job where you actually get paid to insult people and speak in a way where you can show you have no concept of what it means to be unbiased? I want that job!!! In fact, most of the people responding here could do as well or a better job from what I have read. Keep up the good work genius!!

Classy? The mere fact that you used the term "teabagger" makes you unclassy. Oh why don't you write your next article on ACORN and try to put a whole positive spin on those lefty extremist idiots.
Oh yeah and one more thing it is working that's why Obama and Congress arecdropping the public option. Seems as if someone cares more about being relected then doing "what's right" for the American people.

  • Walter Osbourne 4 years ago

Scott, why don't you just debate policy point by point instead of resorting primarily to personal attacks and the denigration of those with opposing views?

The extremists on both sides are crazy. That's what makes them extreme. But the majority on either side is actually a bit more moderate. There are a significant number of moderates attending tea parties. You generalize and group them all into one category with which you apply the label of extremist to.

That is actually prejudice. You Scott, are being prejudiced by applying the same label to everyone in a group, when they are a group of people who you don't know individually. You have pre-judged them. You are a bigot.

  • Hoping for change in 2012 4 years ago

Hey Scott, is this simple enough for you?

    Change
    Change
    Change

Hey, could you upgrade that slogan to at least two or three words? Or will that take too much away from its comprehendability?

    How about three words?

    Hope and Change
    Hope and change
    Hope and Change
    Hope and Change

Oh, now it's really getting deep. Can you still follow?

Hey, and let's not even define what the change is. Let's just surprise everybody after we get into office.

    Hope and surprise
    Hope and Surprise

It's the surprises that are really angering the people Scott. Because the President portrayed himself as a moderate and that's what people were hoping for. After the election came the change. Hope and change really turned out to be the bait and switch.

    Bait and Switch
    Bait and Switch

Can you follow that one Scott?

This article is spot on . You teabaggers are nothing more than racist anti- American traitors. You are hypocrites who conveniently facts.

Bush went from a surplus to a deficit, not Obama. The rest of the world hated us for our war in Iraq that killed thousands under Bush , to at least respecting us under Obama. Gas prices have been contained after surging to $4/gallon because oil producers hated us because of Bush. We'll probably sign more business deals and lift our economy out of the mess Bush left.
The funniest thing in the world to me is how the country club Republicans have convinced the poor racist republicans it's in their best interests to not have the option of health care even if most of them can't afford it as it stands. But the truth is you cant stop it, because there are more Real Americans then there are Beck/Limbaugh/Coulture/Hannity racist crazies out there.

  • Scott Gibbs 4 years ago

I must make an apology for this article.

I foolishly wrote "there mission was clear" when I was supposed to use "their."

    I am very sorry.

The rest of the article is perfect.
