The nation’s health crisis plagues the United States, causing one in three children to suffer from obesity. This epidemic has yielded First Lady Michelle Obama to take action. Teaming up with Flash Mob of America and National Geographic Kids, these groups aim at breaking the Guinness Book of World Records® for the most people performing jumping jacks together in a 24-hour span. On October 11 and 12th, major flash mobs will organize all over the world to complete this fitness challenge. Everywhere from Los Angeles to New York, Hawaii to London, Chicago to Washington D.C., and several other major cities in between, will jump for their hope towards a healthier lifestyle.
Let’s Jump!, a part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative, encourages families and children to lead a healthier and more active standard of living. Between 3 p.m. ET on October 11 and 3 p.m. ET on October 12, children, adults, and communities can break the magazine's fifth Guinness world record if more than 20,000 people worldwide participate. As the official Jumper in Chief, Mrs. Obama will kick off National Geographic Kids’ attempt to break the record at the White House, by starting with one minute of jumping jacks.
Our nation needs our help. With the aid of national production company, Flash Mob of America, any one in any city can participate; you can do it alone or in a group, and select the rules based on your number of participants. Those interested in helping raise awareness of the nation's obesity epidemic, may also take a pledge at http://www.teamupandpledge.com as part of Team Up for a Healthy America, Jamba Juice's national grassroots campaign.
