You can keep tabs on your favorite celebs with StarSpotter (Photos)

Have you ever seen a celebrity in your hometown and wanted to share that with the world?

25-year old law school student and entrepreneur Elliot Schubin has created an app for that.

If you are a celebrity watcher you need to run, not walk and download the just-released StarSpotter on your smartphone. Starspotter allows users to become part of the paparazzi and report celebrity spottings in real-time with a picture you can share on your favorite social media platforms.

Schubin said the idea came to him while sitting in a bar.

"I was sitting at a bar in Manhattan and saw a celeb walk in," explained Schubin. "I talked to a friend and she also saw a celebrity and purposely followed the person into a store."

Like many Americans, Schubin has a fascination with tabloid magazines. He thought was to paid this with a real-time element of reporting and social media.

StarSpotter was born.

With the new app, Schubin hopes it accomplishes two things.

In big cities, Schubin says the app will allow fans to track their favorite stars, and for smaller cities where it's rare to find big celebs, it will give them the opportunity to see pictures of where they hang out.

I asked Schubin about the possibility that a stalker could use the app to track a celebrity for the wrong reasons.

He didn't seem too concerned, although he has consulted with a lawyer and asked about this very fact.

"The app doesn't give the exact address where the celebrity is," offered up the CEO. "It's not a stalking tool, and celebrities know this comes with the territory (of being famous)."

The app's features include:

Track your favorite movie stars on celebrity map and alert the other users

An autograph function which allows fans to sign the screen, as well as providing different visual effects of the picture

Upload the pictures to all forms of social media and share the spotting with their friends

Follow your favorite celebrity and notify you if they are spotted anywhere in the world by anyone using the app.

Schubin even goes as far as saying that being recognized comes with the territory of being a celebrity.

A bold statement, but an app that bears watching, as do your favorite TV and movie stars, athletes, musicians and politicians.

The app is now available on the Android Market and Apple iPhone. To download the app please checkout the link - www.starspotterapp.com.
