It is approximately a 3 hour drive from Cleveland to Logan, Ohio.

Hocking Hills Winter Hike This 6 mile trek past beautiful scenery and awe-inspiring geological formations thrilled more than 5600 hikers and outdoor enthusiasts last year. This year's event starts at Old Man's Cave near the Park's Visitors Center on State Route 664 at 9 a.m.. There will be continuous starts of hikes from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Hikers can expect to encounter bridges, stairways, hilly terrain and rugged trails while on their hike. It is suggested that you dress in layers, wear appropriate footwear (good hiking boots), use ice cleats on your boots, bring gloves, hats and hand warmers and also bring snacks to eat while walking and plenty of water or sports drinks.

Your hike begins at Old Man's Cave (named for hermit Richard Rowe, one of the cave's first inhabitants) and takes you to Cedar Falls (a 50 foot waterfall that plunges into a clear, crystal pool). Hikers can walk down a staircase at Cedar Falls and see a 149 foot hemlock, Ohio's largest tree.

Cedar Falls is the halfway point of the hike and it is there that hikers can enjoy a lunch of bean soup (cooked in iron kettles), cornbread and hot beverages. Lunch is free but donations would be appreciated.

The Winter Hike ends at Ash Cave (the largest recess cave in Ohio) where there will be vehicles waiting to take hikers back to Old Man's Cave where you can sample sassafras tea brewed over an open kettle and tour a French & Indian War frontier encampment.

Expect the entire hike to take approximately 5 hours.

Hiking stick medallions and commemorative patches will be available for purchase.
