Are you looking to improve your level of fitness with individual coaching and also in a supportive team environment? Kyle Dokken and Rhianon Schuman at CrossFit Jefferson Park in Denver, are building a community focused on your health and your goals. This neighborhood gym in Jefferson Park offers something for all fitness levels and experience. Together, owners Kyle Dokken and Rhianon Schuman have over 6 years of CrossFit experience.
CrossFit Jefferson Park joined this growing downtown community last November and fits in perfectly in this unique Denver neighborhood which offers urban living with a small-town feel. Co-Owner and Coach Rhianon Schuman, said, “We are very excited to be a part of this neighborhood. We are in the perfect location. As a community, Jefferson Park has a reputation as being a blend of urban city living with a know-your-neighbor feel. That is exactly the kind of neighborhood our gym complements.”
What exactly is CrossFit?
CrossFit is defined as constantly varied, functional movements that are executed at high intensity. Workouts change daily and are scaled to match each individual’s fitness level. They integrate everything from push-ups, pull ups, handstands, and weightlifting, to running, kettlebell movements, and rowing. What is perhaps the most striking difference between CrossFit Jefferson Park and other gyms is the highly engaged community combined with the individual coaching each athlete receives. “You are part of a team at CrossFit Jefferson Park, you are not an anonymous member,” remarks Rhianon. “Everyone is supportive and encouraging, and they will hold you accountable.”
Let’s meet the coach
Rhianon Schuman owner and Director of Operations has been swimming competitively since the age of 8. She competed as a Division I swimmer at the University of Denver in the mile, 500-yard freestyle, and 200-yard butterfly. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health, with a concentration in Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyles. Rhianon is passionate about improving the health and wellness of the Denver community. Rhianon has her CrossFit Level 1 Certification, First Aid, CPR and is AED Certified.
Like many of us, Rhianon tried to remain active but it was difficult after she stopped swimming. She put on weight, her energy level dropped and overall was just unhappy. Some friends introduced her to CrossFit, and she fell in love with the community of people she met, the constantly changing workout and most of all, because she saw great results!
In early 2012, Rhianon started CrossFit and met Kyle Dokken, her business partner, who was one of her original coaches. Through his excellent coaching and Rhianon’s business administration knowledge they teamed up to create CrossFit Jefferson Park. They’ve learned a lot during the first year, primarily from making a lot of small mistakes, and are trying to improve their business everyday “like our clients are trying to improve their health.” Rhianon has a supportive family and along with her husband, Joseph Neveraz, she couldn’t have done it without them. Rhianon says, “They have been there cleaning the gym with me, and when we originally started doing workouts in Jefferson Park during the summer of 2013, they were there as our first cohort of members.”
Try a complimentary introduction session
CrossFit has a reputation of being only for the athletic, but it’s not. They will teach you what you need to know to be successful, and they will make it work for you. Because of their unique program, they start all prospective students with a complimentary introduction session. This 60-minute, private one-on-one session, gives you a chance to see their facility, learn about their philosophy, and experience a workout. It's a great way for you to see if CrossFit Jefferson Park is a good fit for you.
Would you like a unique neighborhood gym with your own personal coach who is focused on you, your health and your goals? CrossFit Jefferson Park offers this community and it is one of the key reasons why this program is so effective. The community is often the difference between success and failure, and it only comes from a group of people engaged in something they are passionate about. Rhianon is passionate about improving your health and wellness.
