You always hurt the ones you love

There's one sad truth in life I've found
While journeying east and west -
The only folks we really wound
Are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know,
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best.

~Ella Wheeler Wilcox

There's so much truth to this poem. It's a wonder why we always hurt the ones we love. Many times we hide our pain and our fears, only to let it come pouring out all at once on the ones we love. The problem with the catch 22 we bring our relationships in, is that love equates with understanding. There is no hurt, no obstacle, and no circumstance that true love can't overcome.

Love is there at 1 AM when you need a friend. Love is there at 5 PM when you're tired and cranky. Love is there in a cup of tea with girlfriends, and love is there in freshly cooked pancakes made by a lover at breakfast.

Love is sacrifice, and it's worth it, every minute of it. If there is no time or patience to understand; simply the truth is that there is no love. The truth is that love can shine through any pain and any walls because love isn't a thing, or a person, or a place, it's a force. Love never really aims to wound, because true love in any kind of relationships can take the hits; it never needs to mend, it just is.
