According to a report today from VG 24/7, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said Sony’s long history in Japan, along with consistency and persistence in the market, has help leave an indelible association with the Sony brand and the good memories involved with it.

Yoshsida also championed the long-standing executive team at Sony, who have worked on most or all PlayStation console launches, in the interview with Games Industry.

“Andrew House, Jack Tretton, myself and many of the executives were all there at the beginning. We’ve gone through great times and pretty difficult times together,” Yoshida said.

Yoshida said even people from Sony are joining the Sony Computer Entertainment team because of how focused they are on working out issues.

“We have meetings where we just jump onto the issues, make decisions and move on. That’s very different from the Sony side, according to them,” Yoshida said.

Sticking together through the thick and thin of multiple PlayStation launches over the last 20 years, Yoshida said gives the company an advantage with the PlayStation 4 launch in the sense that they’re a well oiled machine that works well together.

“That history of us working through all the PlayStations of the last 20 years together –– including Mark Cerny, who’s not a Sony person but has always worked together with us –– really helps us, I think, whether we’re crafting messages or making sure that everyone knows what other parts of PlayStation are doing,” Yoshida said.

The PS4 hits shelves for in North America on Nov. 15, in Europe on Nov. 29 and Japan in February.
