It's been a long, long time since Yoshi, and dinosaur that first appeared in "Super Mario World" starred in his own game. Gamers old enough to remember "Yoshi" and "Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2" look back fondly on the little green dinosaur and his adventures.
Yoshi also got a Nintendo 64 game called "Yoshi's Story", but ever since then he's been nothing more then a co-star or a cameo in various games. Nintendo is looking to change that, as they announced during the Direct Presentation this morning that Yoshi is getting his own Nintendo Wii U title.
As pictured above, it's easy to see the art style is coming from HAL Laboratory, the designers behind 2010's "Kirby's Epic Yarn". The few pictures of the "Yoshi" game show off the similar art style to their last "Kirby" title, beyond that little else is known about the game.
Takashi Tezuka, director of both "Yoshi's Island" and "Yoshi's Story" will supervise the game's development. This should make everyone breath a little easier. However after seeing how great "Kirby's Epic Yarn" turned out to be, there's no doubt this "Yoshi" game will be a hit.
No release date has been given, so there's a good chance this won't drop until 2014.
