UPDATE: The man responsible, Honey Ahmed, was arrested, charged with two counts of theft with $50,000 bail, according to the Associated Press.
A Yorkshire terrier named Violet was stolen while her human mom was on a date, according to the Daily Record. The Dover woman was on a first date with a man she met via online dating but instead of making a love connection, she lost her precious pup and her flat-screen television.
Police were on the scene the morning following the date. The woman said she only knew the man by the name “Joel” and that she believed he was from Elizabeth. According to the woman, she was in another room but when she returned, her date was gone and so was her canine companion and television.
Police are asking for help in identifying the man as they follow leads. “Joel” is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, Hispanic and was wearing blue jeans, black boots and a black-hooded jacket. He was driving a gold Mercedes with black and beige leather interior. The windows of the car, which might be 2004 or 2005, are tinted.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Detective Sgt. William Woodhull Jr. at 973-366-2200 ext 4122 or the Dover police at 973-366-0302.
