“I still miss him”: Yoko Ono tweets image of John Lennon’s blood-stained glasses in a plea to end gun violence on the 44th wedding anniversary. The singer song writer, artist, political activist and wife of Beatle John Lennon makes her statement against gun violence. The photo of the glasses makes a statement all of their own and tell the story of just one American family marred by the tragedy of gun violence.
“Envision a world with nothing to live or die for”
Yoko’s release of Season of Glass, just six-months after her husbands death of a glass half-full of water and the dull New York city skyline behind it. Politicians still debate the gun laws while violence and hate fills the streets of the Untied States.
Everyone has a responsibility
To move toward a more peaceful nation and share the love, can you imagine? How do you make people take responsibility for the energy they bring into the world? It’s a big responsibility but it’s not impossible. War, crimes and violence in the homes, her statement is touching and heartbreaking and it makes a resounding statement to anyone who see’s it. But the ones who need to feel it the most, those in charge of the violence committed with guns, it rolls right from their backs.
Life can be hard and it moves fast
The people are the only ones who can make a difference in the laws and the appeal to curb all violence. Such violence fills people up and over flows into every crack and crevice of our very existence. Artists, film directors, video games designers swear they have the right to portray and mass produce the violence people would like to wipe out. No one has the right to violence and true entertainment is not of a violent nature. The images stream through your mind repeatedly.
Yoko wrote, ‘We are turning this beautiful country of ours into a war zone. Let’s bring back America, the green land of peace.’ Her statement of peace was so moving even President Obama retweeted it.
