Yoko Ono to unveil English Heritage plaque for Lennon landmark

An English Heritage blue plaque to John Lennon is to be unveiled in London by Yoko Ono Oct. 23 at 34 Montagu Square, a former home of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.  John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved in the address in July, 1968, when the Beatles were recording "The Beatles" White Album. They shot the famous ”Two Virgins” album cover in the basement and were also arrested at the flat after a police drug raid.

The basement and ground floor duplex flat had been the residence of newlyweds Ringo and Maureen Starr. After they moved, Paul McCartney also set up a home studio in the flat.

This is the first blue plaque for a London property lived in by a Beatle and only the second for a rock star.  The first was in Brook Street at the former home of Jimi Hendrix. The guitarist also lived at 34 Montagu Square in 1966 with his manager Chas Chandler of The Animals when he first arrived in London.

Reynold D'Silva, managing director of Silva Screen Records and current owner of the property, called the plaque "a testament to a man whose influence and work is very much valid today, 30 years after his death, and shall continue to be a century from now. John Lennon was and still is a beacon to millions for his songs and exhaustive efforts for world peace”.

Oh....this is one of the English landmarks she seems to remember?? There was a time Yoko only thought of John as her husband the minute he set his feet on American soil.....

There was a time even BEFORE Montague Square, Yoko. Don't forget about that...and he got along very well without you.

Why no Blue Plaque for Ringo? After all, it was his flat first!

It seems John and Yoko lived there much longer.

Apparently you have to be over 100 years of age or dead for at least 20 years before a blue plaque can be awarded.
