Yoko Ono has hinted there will be several projects celebrating what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday this year and that they will keep her from any extensive touring with the revived Plastic Ono Band in 2010.
In her weekly question-and-answer sessions on Twitter, she was asked, "Will your revived Plastic Ono Band continue performing, maybe go on tour somewhen? Would be great to attend a concert."
Yoko's answer was, "This year is going to be a bit slow. The reason being it is John Lennon’s 70th birthday year. And I, with the help of people of different fields, am creating many Lennon projects. This is also due to the fact that John was a Renaissance man, and has done so many things in so many mediums. So next year will be more for my stuff. Although I have plenty this year, too. Just can’t do an elaborate concert tour."
There has been no formal announcement of any specific projects tied to Lennon's 70th birthday, though the release of "Nowhere Boy" Oct. 8, the day before his birthday, could be included in that category.
There have been reports circulating that a "Double Fantasy" project is on the way, but there has been no announcement yet.

Jack Douglas has publicly stated that he just finished remixes of Double Fantasy..So although not officially announced yet..they are indeed coming... I would love to see a full band recreating Double Fantasy live.. Maybe Cheap Trick could take the bait with some members of the original session line up????
I sooooooooooooooo dream of a Double Fatasy 'Classic albums' documentary, apart from John (THE biggest part of course) most of the people involved are still around, i would dearly love to hear their insights and see it fleshed out with new photo's and some of the Aug 1980 footage from the recording sessions, it is now known that 20 minutes is in the hands of a collector, so now is the time for it to be used.
You can bet that anything Yoko does for John's 70th will be as much about promoting her work as promoting his. Sorry, this woman brings out the bitter in me. To me, any celebration of John's 70th should be PURELY about John's work.
Dude....LOVE what you do.....but is it REALLY necessary to load up your individual article posts with OVER 150 (!!!!!!!) article clicks on the right hand side of the page??? It's starting to effect loading time, and it does seem a BIT much!!!
That would be GREAT if Cheap Trick could do Double Fantasy live!
I am curious about what is coming for what would have been John's 70th birthday. The one thing I personally would not like to see is another compilation of the same songs. There have to be more rarities that should see release. I also wouldn't mind some of John's solo catalog being made available for Rock Band, so perhaps when Yoko refers to mediums, that could be a possibility.
Jack Douglas has stated that there is a cassette tape of John singing an unreleased song called "Street of Dreams". That would make a great bonus track on the Double Fantasy Unplugged project which is being worked on.
Take what Douglas says with a grain of salt.. He mentioned in a interview from 2003 that John showed him the picture of him and MDC from earlier that evening DEC 8.He stated that John showing him this pic was mind blowing. If this was true the media would have had a field day in the irony of John carrying a pic of him and his killer.. Go check WMFU archives for audio interview DEC 2003... I have lost much respect for his recall after listening to this.. I think he burnt some brain matter with all the drugs he has ingested since Lennon's death.(Mind blowing indeed) On the recent side tho.. He has finished the unplugged material with Jay Messina at Avatar studios in NY.
Lordy this is getting tiresome, but here we go again. 'Ole Marge has gotta make this short. I got 2 loonies named Fried Salmon & Ping Pong (sumpin' like that) scraping barnacles off the barge. I gotta keep an eye on them (I only gots one!) cause they keep slaggin' off and Fried keeps tryin' to steal Marge's sound system.
MAC, you're 1 of the loud stupid minority of Beatle "fans" that Marge calls TYPICAL IDIOTS. Now come close to the screen. IF JOHN LENNON WAS ALIVE TODAY, HE'D SMASH YER FILTHY MOUTH FOR WHAT YOU JUST WROTE!! Don't blame Ono for YOUR bitterness! It's there in you fer all to see! CLAIM IT AS YOUR OWN, YA COWARD!! How nice for you that you have clairvoyance and can see exactly what the Lennon 70th material will be. But I calls it psychotic raving! You don't have a clue, no more than the rest of us. If you were more than a pea-brained infant, you'd know J&Y did A BUNCH of work together. For it to be PURELY LENNON, it would leave out some of John's best work, MACNUTHIN.
there is one great thing Yoko could do for john and that is to put together a concert like the one Olivia did for george after his death. Imagine how many great players would clamor to be a part of it! I have had more pleasure watching the DVD of the harrison tribute that I could possibly state. Please, Yoko - you could make this happen in a heartbeat!
Marge: And you say Mac is guilty of "psychotic raving"? Pot. Meet Kettle.
PHIL: Shut yer duh-huh mouth in the presence of and elder and a lady (I need not mention your better), and learn somethin'.
'Ole Marge would NEVER make a blanket putdown of psychotic raving, dullard.. Spent some of me best time in it, I has.
It's simple: If Marge is doing any raving that means it's the pure truth, therefore, LISTEN UP!!! Any other raving, like from YOU, is also pure - pure GARBAGE!
Marge just means, do ya think yer above it all when you actually reply to someone named "BARKING MAD MARGE THE BARGE"? T**d, meet punchbowl.
I rest my case.
Actually what I'd like to see this year is a REMIXED "John Lennon Live In NYC" The Current DVD and CD are both garbage, sounds like it was recorded in a bottom of a well. I have an old recording that was mixed by "King Biscuit Flower Hour" and it is soooo much better, also restore the length of "Well Well Well" and "New York City", both chopped up for the release. In addition I'd like to see a collection of Lennon Live tracks edited together to resemble an actual show, he doesn't have much live material but a nice CD could be made.
Maclen, I wasn't aware that "John Lennon Live in NYC" had ever been released on dvd. I can't find a trace of it. VHS yes, and I definitely agree about the need for a sound quality update on cd, and a dvd release if there hasn't been one.
The live collection from different sources is something I personally would not like to see. It just strikes me the wrong way.
Well, PHIL has rested his case, so that's that. I guess nobody cares what a gentle old woman on her barge thinks anymore. I guess Marge'll just be slipping past the docks, out of the harbour. The wind, the sun, the sea and it's creatures will be Marge's companions from now on. Farewell, farewell all!
p.s. - just kidding.
CHEW IT PHIL!!!!
