Yoga Study Safe, Effective Therapy for Heart Patients

According to a press release from the University of Kansas Hospital, a "first-ever yoga study" has found that this form of exercise is considered "safe, effective therapy for heart patients."

Apparently the study shows that atrial fibrillation, one of the most common heart conditions, especially in the elderly, has been found to reduce the uneven irregularity.

"On average, yoga was found to cut patients’ episodes of atrial fibrillation in half and significantly improve quality of life," stated the press release.

“The practice of yoga is known to improve many risk factors for heart disease including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hardening of the arteries, and stress and inflammation in the body,” said Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy, M.D. at The University of Kansas Hospital, and lead investigator of the study, in the press release.

According to the press release, this particular therapy is has minimum expenditures and long term helpfulness.
