Yoga has many health benefits including psychological and emotional. One type of yoga called restorative yoga helps promote relaxation. While holding poses, tension is released, the mind becomes clear and healing takes place in the body.
Due to its many health benefits, people of all ages practice yoga. Yoga increases flexibility, improves muscle tone and flushes out harmful toxins in the body. Restorative yoga requires breathing and holding the pose for 5-8 minutes.
Mindful breathing reduces anxiety because the mind becomes focused. When a person becomes anxious, breathing is shallow or fast. Normally a few deep breaths will calm the body and mind.
