Practitioners of yoga understand how addictive it can be. After class and even into the next day students feel good - physically and emotionally - and so they go back again for more just like a drug, but it's a good drug.
And one of the side effects of studying yoga and formulating a yoga lifestyle is becoming more aware of our connection to the Earth and everyone and everything on it. That's why Yoga Gives Back is a perfect opportunity to help others while improving oneself concurrently.
Beginning on Friday, September 20 and running through Sunday, September 22, The Yoga Room on Freret Street will be hosting a series of five classes with proceeds going directly to the Yoga Gives Back organization. Yoga Gives Back was created to raise awareness and funds to help alleviate poverty in India.
The participating classes are as follows:
Friday, September 20 - 8:45 A.M.- with Melanie Fawer of The Yoga Room
Saturday, September 21 - 10 A.M. - with Michelle Baker of Swan River
Also, Saturday, September 21 - 4:00 P.M. - with Jennifer Richard of Freret Street Yoga
Sunday, September 22 - 9:30 A.M. - with Kara of Bikram New Orleans
And the final class of the series, Sunday, September 22 - 3 P.M. - with Nathalie Croix of Shanti Yoga Shala
