Yoga and heart health

Cardio exercise is any form of exercise that raises your heart rate. The more cardiovascular your workout is, the more efficiently your heart pumps blood and oxygen through your body.

Aerobic classes have always been known to give a good cardio workout, however, yoga is steadily becoming a contender in this realm.

More rigorous, flowing styles of yoga such as Vinyasa and Ashtanga get your heart rate up by moving from one pose to the next at a fast pace, combining breath with each movement.
 
If you currently attend a class that keeps a high intensity flow for 20-30 minutes, you are in the zone to becoming more cardio efficient. Studies have proven that good cardio health leads to more energy, better memory, less stress and anxiety, and better immune system support.
