YMCA to build full service center in Mt. Juliet

It's true! Mount Juliet, one of the fastest growing areas in Middle Tennessee, is finally going to get a full service YMCA building. Known as one of the top two best school districts in Middle Tennesee, Mt. Juliet has grown in leaps and bounds thanks largely to families moving into this Nashville suburb. Several years ago the local YMCA recognized a need for a branch in Mt. Juliet and so the Mt. Juliet Y fitness center was opened in the Clearview Shopping Center. Prior to this center opening, moms (and dads) who wanted to exercise had to travel either to Lebanon or Hermitage. While neither is very far away, when toting kids around or running from one practice to the next, every minute counts.

Now the Middle Tennessee YMCA is taking the next leap in Mt. Juliet by planning to build a bigger facility with more amenities. The land has been purchased (off of Lebanon Rd. behind the Burger King, next to Publix) but before any real building starts, lots and lots - $44+ million for the first phase- of money needs to be raised. Hopefully, even in this rough economic time, everyone will see the benefit of having a full-service YMCA in such a family-oriented region and pitch in to make this center a reality. With the temperatures in the unbearable range lately, who would not want a pool close by?
