Yellowhammer Brewing (2406 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville) has added a new bottling machine to their facility and Rebellion Red Lager will be the brewery's first offering available in six-packs of 12 oz. bottles.
Keith Yager, Head Brewer and Co-owner of Yellowhammer Brewing, recently ventured to Denver, Colorado for the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America this past April. During that trip, he researched and acquired his brewery's newest piece of equipment: an automated, pneumatic powered bottle filler. Although Yellowhammer currently packages offerings in 22 oz. bombers with a hand bottling system, the new machine will allow the brewery to add 12 oz. bottles to their portfolio with more speed and efficiency. Yager underwent training on the equipment in June and now the folks at Yellowhammer are ready to start rolling out six-packs.
The first beer to break in the brewery's new bottler and get the 12 oz. treatment will be Rebellion Red Lager. This German inspired brew is the perfect offering to be Yellowhammer's first six-pack since it is incredibly refreshing, easy drinking, and perfect for any occasion or time of year. For more information on the beer itself, here's the full brewery description:
Brewed to a deep red and inspired by German brewing tradition, our Rebellion red lager is a crisp, refreshing and contemplative beer. The aroma holds light malt and caramel notes. While German Cara Red and Pilsner malts form the soul of this beer, it's capped with a light hoppy bitterness.
According to the brewery's Facebook account, Rebellion has received label approval and six-packs are "coming soon." After exchanging emails with a brewery representative yesterday, it looks like their tentative target date to release these six-packs is Labor Day (release date is subject to change). Rebellion certainly will not be the only beer from Yellowhammer to find its way into 12 oz. bottles, so keep an eye on the brewery's social media accounts and my page for information about future releases. Prost!
