Year In review Fishing lures and lure legends Ostrum and Weber

Capturing the fishing moment. Talk to ten different anglers about what the like to use when they go fishing and most likely you are going to get ten different answers. When it comes to fishing everyone has their tried and true favorites or their “go to” lures. The sport of fishing provides endless gear options, hundreds of not thousands of lures and lure colors, bells and whistles. It can get pretty confusing trying to sort out which ones to try first just ask any new angler trying to fill up their new tackle box.

A fishing lure is any object tied to the end of fishing line designed to resemble baitfish

Most fishing lures fall into one of these categories: jig, spoon, surface or topwater, artificial flies, spinnerbait and swimbait for a variety of presentations. One logical use of lures is to prevent the “overharvesting” of bait species lower down on the food chain, and lures promote increased chances of survival where “catch and release” is concerned.

Two great fishing lure legends were lost to us in 2012, Ray Ostrum and Ron Weber
