2013 brought along many fashion trends, some of it recycled: statement necklaces, crop tops sweatshirts and animal prints. And then there were a few new ones: d'orsay flats, overalls, and pave link necklaces. Here is a list of some of the most memorable fashion trends for 2013.

Boxier Silhouettes. You can claim that the boxier silhouette trend has latched onto the minimalist trend that was all the rage in 2012, one thing you can't claim, however, is that the bigger is better theory wasn't in full mode this season. Bulkier fits and over-sized shapes were seen everywhere from the runway to street style memes. Some of the best ones for the year include the boyfriend coat and sweatshirts which were a street style staple.

Cut-outs. From cut-out dresses to cut-out booties, the origami favored shapes were a commanding force this year, revealing a touch of skin with a glamorous edge. Cut-outs were also a continuation from the popular trends of 2012 but were a lot more noticeable this year.

Bold color. Bold color via jewel tones were of the foremost trends this year. Emerald took the dominating spot for the earlier part of the year and passed the torched onto to crimson which was fall's favorite and then the race to the finish line was finally completed by orange which became the new black. You can add wine and cobalt blue to the list which were favorites on everything from accessories to makeup, wine hued lips anyone?

Under the Influence of Menswear. I guess this year the ladies wanted to be more like the gents? If you paid close attention to the highly ranking style this year this statement rings all the more true. From menswear inspired footwear such as oxford shoes and the tassel embellished loafers, to tuxedo blazers and two-piece suits, this year the boys were back in town.

Crop tops. A nod to the 80's fast forward some 25 years later and it appears as though everyone wanted to get in on the mid-drift action. Bare bellies were a fashion statement for the spring/summer 2013 with everyone from celebrities to your every day plain Jane donning the look. What some regarded as a questionable look, rooted in the trend some heated debates ensued, nevertheless the look prevailed for the better part of 2013.

Black & White Plus Stripes Effect. Not that the two classic looks go hand in hand but this year the two looks were effortlessly interchangeable. Black and white were the most heavily used colors for the runways for both men and women for the spring/summer and winter/fall seasons. Stripes were a colossal hit for the spring/summer with runways clamoring with the never out range style. It may be a return back to basics or a longing for the standards of style, whatever the case monochrome plus stripes equal double winning this year.

Gaudy Accessories: From chunky paved chain necklaces that are reminiscent of Mr. T's signature look to larger than life handbags, gaudy accessories were a statement making hit for 2013-the gaudier the better.
