Founded in 1882 by Alvaro Garcia and Jose Vega. Garcia y Vega produced premium, hand rolled cigars. Presently, Garcia y Vega is a US machine made cigar manufactured by Swedish Match. The majority of these machine made cigars use a Dominican grown candela wrapper.
Somewhere between 1969 and 1971, Frank llaneza and Tino Gonzalez moved Villazon from Ybor City to this factory located which is located in West Tampa. It was vacant at the time and they used it to manufacture and store cigars.
In the late 1990's / early 2000's The Oliva Tobacco Company moved into the vacant Garcia y Vega Factory. They are a well known supplier of high quality tobacco to many major cigar manufacturers.
