Yarnorama celebrates six years of fiber obsession

Yarnorama is going into its seventh year in Paige, Texas.
Joanna Bettelheim

Over the past six years, Yarnorama has seen fire, floods, family emergencies, and more. But through it all, it’s been an oasis of fiber in Paige, nestled between Austin and Houston. In the past year alone, the store has expanded to include:

  • Additional Louet looms for testing and classes
  • Full ranges of 8/2 cottons, tencel, linens and more
  • An expanded hand dyeing studio for more production

This week they are celebrating their anniversary and looking forward to year seven with a party on Saturday, March 29th. The party will last throughout the day starting when the store opens at 10 a.m. but the fun really gets going later in the day. Along with your current knit, crochet, spinning or weaving project, bring a dish to join in the pot luck around 4 p.m.

The store had to cancel their Christmas party at the end of last year, so those who had planned to participate in the White Elephant washcloth exchange will have their chance on Saturday as part of the festivities. If you hadn’t already, you can join in the fun by bringing two unwrapped, handmade washcloths. They can be knit, crocheted, or woven, as long as they are handmade by you, you’ll get to trade in your pair for another made by someone else. Washcloths are quick to knit up, so there’s plenty of time to cast on and off before Saturday.

There will also be flash sales throughout the week, giving everyone ample opportunity to celebrate six strong years in the ‘playground for the fiber obsessed’.
