For many of us there's a magnetic pull at the first sighting of a "yard sale" sign and the car practically steers itself in that direction. So imagine in addition to the chance at shopping for a great bargain you could also be helping a great cause.
That's exactly what's happening Saturday, March 23, at the downtown Santa Barbara Budget Car Rental, 510 Anacapa St. All proceeds from the yard sale, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will benefit the K-9 Placement & Assistance League, a nonprofit organization that helps in paying for non-routine medical expenses and prescriptions for shelter dogs, as well as the Animal Shelter Assistance Program, a nonprofit for homeless and abandoned cats being cared for at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelters.
If you're not the Saturday morning bargain hunter, but would still like to help, donated items for the sale can be dropped off at Budget Car Rental between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 20 and 22.
