YARD OF BLONDES
by Helen M. Orcutt
The EP “Murderology” was released recently by Yard Of Blondes. It contains 4 Tracks:
Murderology
Monomoria
Requiem For A Lover
Sailors
I watched all of the “Teasers” of the songs, prior to their release. They were different, but to those who like different and out there, these songs will draw you in, have you salivating for what the entire album will be like when it is complete.
I asked Vincent Jacob if they had intentions of their music being used in Horror films, since they write “Murder Ballads” and I was shocked, to say the least, when he told me “NO”.
So far they have only toured on the West Coast, but now that their EP has been released their touring will broaden. Vincent elaborated, “We will Tour France first and then the US.” This makes the most sense, since the are originally from France.
Recently Yard Of Blondes received “Band Of The Month” by Deli Magazine. On August 2012, this made big changes for this band. Vincent explained, “It helped us alot. Now we are able to play for bigger venues in Los Angeles.” According to Vincent, that is a BIG DEAL!
Murderology sounds alot like Rob Zombie when it starts out and draws you in with each note and each phrase.
“This is a love song from my heart to the grave...”
“Come up closer and you’ll see the man in me...”
“Follow me down to the corner of my sins...”
Requiem
“Do you fall into the river?”
“Stay inside these eyes...”
It was best described to me as “Birth to love. He threw he in the cold river, because he doesn’t want her to change. Making her frozen in time.”
Sailors is very personal and abstract to Vincent. They left their friends and their Country to come to the US and Now they have a new life and a new language.
When I asked what the biggest obstacle was for them to overcome, Vincent blurted out “LANGUAGE”. It is not as easy for bands in France, but to put it like Vincent explained; “Music is harder in France, the US is positive.”
The Music Industry is getting harder for all bands, since there a new bands starting up all around the World each day, the competition to be THE BAND is making the stakes higher. What sets Yard Of Blondes out above the rest? You have to make that decision for yourself. Does their Murder Ballads tickle your fancy? Do they evoke an emotion lurking deep inside of you? Or does their music just take you to that place that you want to be? If it does, they’ve done their job!
This Folk Rock (Folk Americana Indie) band is based out of Los Angeles, CA.
