Ever thought about spending happy hour with man’s best friend? Invite your friends, leash up your pups and head to “Yappy Hour” at Barker Street Bakery on Sawdust Road.
The hippest and only pet happy hour in The Woodlands takes place on the second Thursday of each month. From 5-7 pm, people and pooches mix and mingle, all for a good cause.
Owners relax and enjoy hors d'oeuvres, while their leashed up pooches munch on fresh baked goods and socialize with their furry friends. Each Yappy Hour is sponsored by a local organization where money is raised for their local pet-related charity of choice.
Yappy Hour goers can buy raffle tickets to win a variety of donated prizes from flat screen TV’s, to wine baskets to dinner out on the town. All the money collected from the ticket sales is donated to the charity. Barker Street Bakery also donates 10% of all sales made during the event to the charity.
The next tail-wagging event takes place February 11. All raffle and sales proceeds will benefit the Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston (GRRH), an organization that takes in Golden’s that are suffering from neglect or abuse.
Since Yappy Hour’s launch in 2008, Barker Street Bakery has raised more than $10,000 for local pet-related charities.

Yappy Hour at Barker Street this month (February 11, 2010) will benefit Houston Collie Rescue, not GRRH as noted in the article. No matter which group is the beneficiary, Yappy Hour is always a blast. Bring your pet between 5-7pm for a Valentine surprise!
