The New York Yankees finally snapped out of a winless drought to gain their second win of Spring Training. After the victory however, the Yanks’ cut nine non-roster invites from the Spring Training Squad and designated them for reassignment to the Minor League Camp.
The following players were on the list for reassignment:
- Sean Black (RHP)
- Matt Daley (RHP)
- Nick Goody (RHP)
- Shane Greene (RHP)
- Bryan Mitchell (RHP)
- Zach Nuding (RHP)
- Mike O’Brien (RHP)
- Ryan Pope (RHP)
- Kyle Roller (1B)
While the reassignment of non-roster invites is clearly no surprise, the timing is a bit quick. Seeing as the World Baseball Classic began this weekend, all Major League teams will be losing a few players off of their roster. The Yanks’ could also benefit from hanging on to these players for injury purposes as well.
In other Spring Training news, former Tampa Yankee Adam Warren will make his second Spring Start against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon.
As Spring Training continues this month, stay tuned to see how the New York Yankees will configure their Opening Day roster and if the final product will include any former Tampa Yankees.
