Yankees acquire Haynes from Pirates

The New York Yankees have acquired Minor League pitcher Kyle Haynes from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Major League catcher Chris Stewart.

Haynes was drafted out of Virginia Commonwealth in the 20th Round of the 2012 MLB Draft. The twenty-two year old RHP played the entire 2013 season with the Class A West Virginia Power. With the Power he had a 2.38 ERA as a member of the bullpen. Towards the end of the 2013 season, Haynes became a starter and had much more success; as a starter he had a 1.93 ERA.

Now being a Yankee, Haynes should be able to be promoted to Single A Advanced, the hometown Tampa Yankees. It isn't clear whether Haynes will continue as a starter or move back to the bullpen as a Yankee.
